Teacher Development Division

  1. Provide professional support to schools in the effective implementation of the Maldives National Curriculum.
  2. Support schools in enhancing their professional capacities to foster positive character, instill values, and cultivate essential skills in students as prescribed in the national curriculum.
  3. Conduct teacher professional development programs to enhance their teaching skills.
  4. Plan and implement leadership training programs for staff in leadership positions of schools.
  5. Deliver the necessary training to schools for the effective implementation and continuity of school-based professional development programmes.
  6. Monitor and keep records of school-based professional development in schools while providing necessary guidance and support.
  7. Design and develop modules and necessary resources in various areas required for teacher capacity building.
  8. Develop and sustain a mechanism for delivering online training to support the professional development of teachers.
  9. Establish a mechanism to organise subject teachers’ forums for the purpose of enhancing teaching and learning of specific subjects
  10. Monitor the activities of teacher resource centers.
  11. Explore and test innovative ways of implementing the national curriculum, and provide support to schools to implement them.
  12. Develop and conduct training courses to enhance the capacity of leadership and teaching staff in the schools and continuously improve quality of teaching and learning.
  13. Develop the capacity of schools to use Information Communication Technology (ICT) in learning and teaching.
  14. Establish and monitor a system of providing mentoring support to newly recruited teachers to enable them to familiarise with the school environment and enhance their teaching skills and competencies.
